Artist Feature: Mary Lynn Gress

Mary Lynn Gress creates upcycled jewelry from heirloom pieces like watches, brooches, and broken necklaces.  She also upcycles other items, giving new life to old cigar boxes and jewelry boxes and loves restoring items that already have a sentimental meaning.

Mary Lynn works from her studio in her garage and loves to create custom orders to fit the personality of her customer.

Artist Feature: Anna Walker

Anna Walker is an artist who primarily works with felt.  She loves the tactile nature of the fibers as they come together to form an unwoven fabric that can then be made into a variety of artwork.  Anna adds felt embellishments to her beadwork, wirework, and stitching.

Anna has been felting for about four years and started after she picked up a needle felting kit at Hobby Lobby.  Since then, she has discovered multiple tools, equipment and education to continue her work in felt.  She works from a bedroom in her home and enjoys creating custom orders.

This will be Anna's third year at the Bizarre Bazaar and more of her work can be found online on her blog, on Twitter (@FELTit), or her Artfire shop.  She also teaches felting classes in Topeka and information about those classes can be found at the Potwin Fiber Artisans website.

Laura's favorite thing about painting is that people smile when they see her work and give her great feedback; she was once even told, "you made my day a little happier"!

Artist Feature: Phil Wilke

Phil Wilke makes spiral-bound notebooks from the covers of some of classic rock's greatest records. They can be used for scrapbooks, journals, photo albums, notebooks...a great way to enjoy the nostalgia of the LP covers in a practical way!   He also creates smaller, pocket-sized notebooks out of baseball cards.

Phil has been a record collector all his life and loves browsing the $1 bins in search of hidden treasures.  A few years ago he saw someone using record album covers to make purses and decided to try to use them for notebook covers.

His notebooks generally measure 11x12 or 8 1/2 by 11, but he will take custom orders, noting "any record, any size".

This will be Phil's third year at the Bizarre Bazaar; be sure to stop by his booth and check out his work!

More of Phil's work can be viewed online in his Etsy shop or he can be contacted via email at

2012 registration forms

The time has come...registrations have been sent out and should be arriving in the mail by the end of this week!  Remember, this part of our process is snail mail only.  We don't take any registrations online.

We do start a wait list with all of the artists who don't get into the show so that as spaces open up for various reasons there are still opportunities to participate.

Artists will be notified about participation by the end of July.
